Field Service Manager - UK

Energetic, professional service manager who has experience in the electronic or similar sector on an international basis. Have ability to read technical literature and drawings. Process Engineer - UK


PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Provide process engineering cover to a manufacturing wafer fab facility for both production and development requirements within the field of etch.

Interface with counterparts within the engineering team to identify, participate within and lead project objectives that enable department objectives to be achieved, namely the on-time supply of parts or processes to customers of high quality and at minimal cost.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide engineering support to manufacturing line, having specific responsibility for the etch processing area.
Objective of minimising scrap, increase yield, reduce TAT, minimise manufacturing costs and ensuring quality manufacturing within the given field of operation.
Mentoring and development of ‘junior’ unit process engineers & technicians.
Participate actively in the process and product development procedure such that the transfer of process and products from development phase through to production is completed successfully and on schedule.
Training and development of production staff and engineers.
Proactively encourage means for cost reduction and lean manufacturing principles.
Ensure appropriate tools, techniques and methodologies are being applied, developed and continuously reviewed.
Establish process metrics and performance enhancing projects to meet business objectives.


MAIN TASKS:

Identify requirements for new hardware or modifications thereof in order to meet the requirement of the customer or developing process. Such requirements shall be thoroughly specified and budgeted, suppliers identified and evaluations undertaken. Hardware shall be commissioned and tested for conformance to specification. Prior to release to production all necessary risk assessments and documentation shall be updated and applicable staff training undertaken.

Coaching or mentoring of junior members of staff is a requirement, these being either fellow engineers or technicians. Training material shall be provided, and presented where required, for engineering staff within the organisation to raise the general level of competency within the field.

Must proactively identify and implement process improvements in order to increase efficiency, yield and reduce operating costs. Assist in meeting engineering group’s key performance indicators. Participates in projects to meet required department objectives or improvement activities, may contribute to establishing resource requirements, monitoring of progress and ensuring project deliverables.

Engineering technical needs, processes and procedures required to advance product and process development will be established through close liaison with other senior members of staff within the organisation.

Active role shall be played in yield improvement activities, working closely with device, yield and development engineers. Will demonstrate, through problem solving, new product introductions and continuous improvement activities an understanding of how variations in process conditions may affect product performance.

Proactive role in developing a positive safety and environmental culture to satisfy ISO 140001 requirements.

Establish how process variations impact product quality and performance. Determine, set and monitor in-line process specification limits to guarantee product performance. Has an in-depth understanding of 2 to 3 process stages/areas and act as an information resource to fellow engineers for guidance and support.

Processes currently undertaken include selective GaAs front-side etch and various SiN etch processes at critical dimensions to 0.15mm and deep GaAs via etch all utilising RIE or ICP plasma technology.

Defectivity Process Engineer - UK


PURPOSE OF ROLE:

A Visual Defectivity Engineer role within the Process Engineering Team, providing support to both Production and Technology Development.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

(including financial and people responsibilities)

To drive improvement activities to reduce visual defects in FEOL and BEOL.
To establish and manage the FEOL and BEOL inspection systems.
To react to abnormal events and coordinate containment and countermeasure activities.
To contribute to overall yield enhancement projects across multi-functional teams.
To develop systems to aid data analysis and wafer disposition.

MAIN TASKS:

Manage AOI and Manual inspection systems, aimed at reducing process defectivity and guaranteeing product to customers:
- Establish and manage the systems (including documentation and training)

- Pro-actively review the data and initiate actions for defect reduction

- Set up SPC control and react to out of control events

SPC system management:
- Establish and manage regular SPC reviews and drive improvements

- Ensure all staff are trained in SPC principles

- Improve SPC systems

Provide engineering support for existing production products and technologies:
- Monitoring key parameters and driving capability improvement projects

- Assisting in solving process problems

- Put in place systems to document process issues and manage these

Principal Process Development Engineer.

Job Summary: The principal engineer will work as part of the international R&D organisation which is based in Europe, responsible for the development of new device architectures and process flows for CMOS technology, adding features such as high voltage or optoelectronics. The role will demand technical leadership in process integration and cross-site project management skills.

Major responsibilities

- Liaise with customers to understand requirement specifications for new technologies

- Manage projects and technical leadership in the development of new CMOS technologies

- Development and execution of process and device simulation

- Definition of semiconductor process flows and device architectures

- Cooperation with tool owners to define process recipes

- Design of Experiments (DoE) for technology optimisation

- Realisation of data analysis and management of problem-solving activities

Requirements:

- Bachelor Degree / Master of Engineering in Science (Material, Physics, Microelectronic) or equivalent. PhD is desirable.

Senior Process Characterisation Engineer

Location GB

The primary job purpose of a Senior Process Characterisation Engineer within Advanced Process Technology Development is to ensure that the devices that we intends to use in its designs are well characterised and their behaviour understood.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the device characterisation lab

The post holder will directly supervise all external device measurement activities


Key Responsibilities

· Establish best-practice characterisation methodologies in-house through the use of advanced device test, characterisation and analysis techniques

· Enhance and maintain in-house device test and characterisation lab

· Define, source and purchase instruments and software to enable efficient and accurate device measurement and analysis capability in-house

· Define, source and purchase lab consumables (probe cards, cables etc.) as needed

· Interact directly with R&D to understand their device characterisation requirements and where this information can add value to us. Derive and publish plans to meet these jointly defined requirements

· Exercise personal judgement to determining optimum characterisation techniques for any given task including whether a characterisation should be performed in house or with a sub-contractor

· Understand key attributes of foundry technology offerings, be familiar with design rules and layout techniques

· Define device test chip contents and supervise layout work – internally or externally

· Be able to use Spice modelling and PEX techniques to simulate measured devices

· The post holder will be the recognised authority on device characterisation

Test Engineer

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:
• Implement test solution for optoelectronic devices (Tunable Lasers, Mach Zehnders, Photodiode detector devices, monolithically integrated devices...) establishing project plans, designing hardware, writing software and building test rigs integrating and assembling all components.
• Responsible for upgrades/modifications and improvements of existing manually operated test rigs to bring them to ATE level. Responsible for all aspects of the equipments ranging from software, hardware, firmware
• maintenance and operator training.
• Ensure ATEs achieve required level of output as required by production demand, measurements are repeatable and test methods are reproducible as required by test specifications.
• Liaise with research to transfer the technical know-how to production providing test solutions for the next generation devices. Carry out specific maintenance and preventative activities when required to ensure functional continuity of the production line. Identify improvement opportunities both in terms of capital efficiency and test time reduction and drive the implementation (automated optical alignment, test software efficiency, GUI interfaces, multi-bar loading, vision machine...)
• Document hardware and software. Write AOI (authorised operator instructions) before production hand-over.
• Other tasks commensurate with the position.
JOB CHALLENGES:

• Automate test sequences controlling networked instruments (LCA, OSA, source-meters, wavelength-meters...) over GPIB, RS-232, USB, CAN BUS,… communication protocols
• Configure test systems, hardware and software, for automated chips, bars or wafers test.
• Achieve test rigs commissioning within planned timescales.
• Design and modify existing hardware and software.
• Produce correlation and reproducibility trials to ensure system meets specification before production release.
